What Is Wrong With You People?

Warning -- another rant follows. Anger and incredulity, yes. But no F-bombs.

What kind of sick, twisted god do they worship? Certainly not the God of the New Testament, or Jesus Christ, who gave us the concept of “Turn the other cheek.”

No, those miscreants live in their own little hate-filled world, doing their stupid, pathetic publicity stunts to promote what passes in their minds for a religion. Down in Florida on 20 March, “pastor” (I use the term loosely) Terry Jones (remember this dickhead from last year’s “I’m gonna burn the Koran” spectacular?) put the Koran on trial, found it “guilty of inciting violent crimes,” and “executed” it by burning. Way to go. Tell me, Terry, did you come up with that stunt after watching the “Jackass” series of movies? Or did the Letterman segments on “Stupid Human Tricks” inspire you?

While I give a tip of the hat to the U.S. mainstream media for not giving this moron the press coverage he craved, the international press nonetheless picked up on it. The expected protests against America developed in many Muslim countries, but the worst took place yesterday in Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan. There, a protest turned ugly, and at last report, a total of twelve people died. According to the New York Times, “The dead included at least seven United Nations workers — four Nepalese guards and three Europeans from Romania, Sweden and Norway — according to United Nations officials in New York. Early reports, later denied by Afghan officials, said that at least two of the dead had been beheaded. Five Afghans were also killed.”

So, jerkwad Jones, you’ve officially got blood on your hands. Yeah, you bagged five Afghan Muslims you so despise (my, what an uplifting Christian attitude), plus seven innocent UN employees trying to make this medieval society a better place to live. I do hope there’s a special circle in hell reserved for you and your lunatic fringe cohorts, along with the vermin from the westboro baptist church.

Breaking News Flash: In a galling show of chutzpah, Terry Jones told Agence France-Presse on Friday that he was “devastated” by the killings of 12 people in a violent protest in Afghanistan, then went on to say, “We don’t feel responsible for that.” WTF??? Jones subsequently demanded that the United States and United Nations take “immediate action” against Muslim nations in retaliation for the deaths. “The time has come to hold Islam accountable,” he said. Are you on crack? Or just unbelievably stupid and myopic?

Additional press reporting tells us that “some church members were surprised by the violent reaction in Afghanistan on Friday.” Are you kidding me? Remember that little episode in 2006 after a Danish newspaper released cartoons poking fun at the prophet? These people went bat-shit. What were you expecting after burning the Koran, a politely-worded diplomatic demarche? I said it before (and incurred my wife’s … well, not wrath, but something akin to it …) when I opined that the First Amendment is over-rated and much abused. And looking at the evidence these morons present, well, your honor, the prosecution rests.

  1. Let me guess... I did enough cursing in my last email to last you several days? ;-)

I'd say lets crucify him, since he's so desperate to be a martyr, but he might like that. Let's go back to drawing and quartering for this one. More fun for everyone! Really just cannot believe the stupidity of the man-child, since adults do not act this way. I've always said stupidity needs to be punished!

  2. I agree that Jones's ("jerkwad Jones" ...hiliarious) acts are deplorable and he's an attention-seeking bigot, but what crime would we charge him for? What worries me more is the fact that the Afghans don't seem to have the means to peacefully disagree/protest with something they feel strongly about...

As far as those U.S. church members who were surprised by the violent Afghani reaction, they're simply uninformed/ignorant of others with views different to their own (sounds like mirror-imaging)... That myopia of us Americans not seeing outside or our own society worries me too, but that's a different story... -Kristy
